Two years ago, I discovered I had ADHD after eight months in my first corporate job. It became clear that my procrastination, disordered eating, and sleep deprivation were linked to my ADHD and affecting my well-being. Building routines while working full-time, especially with ADHD, seemed impossible. I faced resistance when trying to establish a routine, overwhelmed by waking up earlier, adhering to a strict schedule, and managing work responsibilities.

ADHD makes it challenging for corporate employees to develop healthy routines for five reasons:

  1.  You can maintain a healthy routine when you’re not busy, but when you become busy you can’t find the time anymore, so you neglect your physical and mental health.

  2. You lose interest in your routine entirely then you struggle to get back on this routine that you don't even like

  3. You wake up late for work every day to get some extra sleep, but then you feel anxious, overwhelmed, and struggle to be productive the rest of the day.

  4. You feel compelled to stay at your desk the entire day which leads you to frequently skip breakfast/lunch, feel mentally exhausted, skip your workouts, and work late at night.

  5. You have no one to hold you accountable for sticking to your routine, so you completely forget then you revert to your old habits for months at a time.

Through incorporating small lifestyle habits into my corporate lifestyle, I developed a flexible system that work well for me. This system has benefited not only me, but also over 100,000 other neurodivergent overachievers on TikTok and Instagram.

  • Establish self-imposed deadlines, hold yourself accountable, and become a highly productive employee at work.
